01 / SUPPLIER CONTRACTS & RENEWALS · LIFE SCIENCES OPERATIONS
Bringing supplier terms, approvals and renewals into clearer view
Negotiating supplier terms, coordinating specialist approvals and introducing renewal and performance tracking in a life-science operations role.
An anonymised career case study from work undertaken in an employed role.
01 / THE CONTEXT
What needed
to come together
Scientific outsourcing, laboratory equipment, software and licensing required commercial coordination across specialist teams. Each agreement needed the appropriate requirements, terms and approvals brought together.
My role combined supplier negotiations with internal coordination and the introduction of a system for tracking renewals and monitoring supplier performance.
02 / MY CONTRIBUTION
The work
behind the outcome
- 01
Review the commercial terms
Reviewed and negotiated supplier terms, including intellectual property, liability, indemnities and licensing restrictions. Specialist legal and compliance questions were escalated to the appropriate advisers.
- 02
Bring the right people into the decision
Coordinated scientific teams, Legal, Finance and governance colleagues to progress requirements, approvals and contract execution.
- 03
Clarify licensing obligations
Worked with scientists and Legal on cell-line licensing agreements, clarifying permitted use, licence obligations and documentation requirements.
- 04
Keep renewals visible
Introduced a system for tracking renewals and monitoring supplier performance, extending visibility beyond the initial agreement.
03 / THE OUTCOME
A more coherent
way forward
Negotiated supplier terms and coordinated internal approvals and execution across more than 100 supplier contracts. Introduced renewal and supplier-performance tracking to support ongoing oversight.
The contract count describes a portfolio of work in an employed role. It is not a count of O’Keefe & Co clients or a claim that every agreement had the same scope.
How this could help your team
